“Because I live, you will live also”
John 14:19 (NASB)
Jesus was the only Man who ever made an appointment beyond the grave – and kept it! After His resurrection He had supper with them in Emmaus and breakfast in Galilee, and His promise to you is, “Because I live, you will live also” John 14:19.
His resurrection guarantees yours. Don’t be afraid of death, it’s only the servant that opens the door to life. Jesus said, “I will go and prepare a place for you” John 14:2. It’s just a change of address. You’re moving to a better neighbourhood, so rejoice. The only power death has over us is the fear we have of it, but Jesus turned the grave into a lighted underpass to glory. D.L Moody sat on his deathbed and with arms outstretched he cried, “I see earth receding and heaven opening – it’s my coronation day!”
Maggie was Scottish, she was Presbyterian, and she was dying. All her life she’d served the Lord and so the family gathered at her bedside. Her pastor asked her, “Maggie, are you afraid to die?” She said, “No! My Father owns the land on both sides of the river!”
If Good Friday were all there were, then we as Christians would be the most depressed and depressing people on Earth. But we know Good Friday is not the whole story, is it? We know that there is a resurrection Sunday. It is a day of victory. We call it Easter.”
Because of Easter morning we can face life with joy, and death with assurance, for it means we will be where He is and with Him, never, never, never to part again.
We commemorate Jesus’ death on the cross with solemnity, but the resurrection calls for thunderous applause, praise and song. As followers of Christ lets celebrate His resurrection with great rejoicing.
Why don’t you take a moment to praise Him today?
